The Redwoods

We camped at the Redwoods with the Baileys.

The campsites were really nice.  They were big and secluded.  All the trees and green made that nice and private.  They had bathrooms and showers and places for the kids to explore.  It was nice.

Caylee was sick during the trip the worst.  Braelyn was still recovering.  The first night Caylee woke up with a stomach ache, which is how this sickness started with all the kids.  Luckily none of them ever threw up.  I was so worried Caylee would puke in the tent that I slept zero that night.  Literally no sleep.  Alaina woke up that night crying because her ear hurt as well.
Cay had a high fever and slept a lot.  If we went out to do something I would mediate her and she would feel better for a few hours then come back to the tent and sleep a lot.  Sue also woke up with an ear ache during this trip.

The first day after we got there and set up we went over to the Amazing Trees place.
The kids liked the talking Paul Bunyan.  They could ask questions and he would answer them.

There were so many fun things to see there.

And really big trees.

We took the ride up to the top of the mountain.  The kids LOVED this.

At the overlook the kids could use binoculars to look over all the tall trees.

Usually you could see the ocean from here but the fog was out that day.

We went back down and walked through all the sculptures made from the fallen trees.

Once Cay was feeling ok and wanted to show me the little town the kids made up down by the creek behind our campsite.

This was the house designated at hers.  All the kids had one.

Emily's site was "infested" with snakes.  They almost closed the site down but Emily said they didn't mind camping with snakes.  It turned out to be a little family of gardner snakes.

The next day (after a night of slightly more sleep), we went to see the "big tree".
We had lunch in the parking lot before walking to see the tree.
Classy :)

 The tree was indeed big.

Nature had made its own little playground for the kids, and adults, to play on.  The little ones made fun from fallen trees and the bigger ones climbed up fallen trees pretty high.  Bret, Emily, Caylee and Braelyn got to climb this high one.

Everyone making the "Jimmy Picture Face".

After the big tree walk we stopped by the beach.

We didn't let the kids go all the way in because its not very safe, but they had a blast running from the waves and playing in the water.

Then the fun had to end.
On the way home there was an accident on the highway and it was closed down.  We sat on the road for a couple hours.  Luckily the kids were SO exhausted they just sat and played with their toys.  Bret and I kept ourselves occupied by making games out of throwing rocks at trees and such.  Bret even ran the mile or so down and back to see where and how bad the accident was.

YAY for the redwoods.  Such a gorgeous place!
