Dash and the Ladder

A few weeks ago Dash learned how to climb up the ladder to the book nook.  This is as high as he got then.  He thought it was pretty awesome.  He could even climb down.

The day after his birthday he learned how to get all the way up.  He was pretty stoked about it, but I was having bouts of anxiety and random heart attacks while he was up there.  He clearly didnt know the dangers of being high, or that if he came down, it would hurt.

I tried to keep him away from it by blocking his way.  It worked for the day.  He wasnt a huge fan though.

The next morning he was playing in the family room.  Bret was in the bathroom and I was still in bed.  He climbed up the ladder and played for a while.  Then he leaned over the railing too far and fell right out.  Alaina was the only witness.  He cried for a good long time, but he wasnt hurt.
Did falling out of the book nook scare him from doing it again.  Nope.  He was trying to climb up again  after his nap.

So Bret took out the two bottom rungs of the ladder to keep him safe.  The girls can get up, but he cant.
Oh was he mad!

Dash's First Birthday

My Dash

The other day I was playing with Caylee and Dash and started taking pictures.  I thought Dash was looking particularly cute that day with his fancy shirt.  After I looked through the pictures I took, I was surprised at how ,any expressions I got of him in just a few minutes.

This is the "Im figuring this out" face.  I love this expression.

Hi Mom :)

Dash's One Year Pictures

Dash is One

My little baby boy is a year old today.  Time has flown.  I have really tried this whole year to really cherish Dash's babyhood.  To hold to every moment and remember everything about it.  How he smells, what he feels like sleeping on my chest like newborns do, his smile.  I fell like I did the best I could.  I soaked him in and could never get enough.  Im so sad that he is past his year mark, in hurts my heart.  I will never have a baby Dash again.  All those fun adorable cute moments are just memories now.  I embrace this year.  I will never forget it.  My last baby's babyhood.
And so he moves onto walking and talking and doing and saying hilarious things.  And I will love that too.  Because I love him.
